CISS o IJF di Perugia

Perugia is a marvelous city where every year in this period (12-13-14-15 of April) people mostly from around Italy, but coming also from different states of Europe, gather to partecipate to Italian(international) Journalism Festival. Various schools organize themselves in order to partecipate as student press (the experession is copied and pasted from reverso, not sure if it means something in english) so I with other guys from Volta high school decided to partecipate taking our "Giornalotto" with us.

There we were able to "make contact" with other school newspapers like "L'Approdo" from Florence, "Il Dragut" from Genoa and others, we were also able to understand which were the standards of other newspapers and compare them wigth ours, it came out that we are the cool guys!

Apart from jokes, we stayed there a few days so I was not able to get to see a lot of conferences, I had to listen to if you are more interested in them I'll leave a link below as soon as I am able to gather all my things up.

If you're also interested I can scan the newspapers and upload them.

Anyway getting back to my memories, we (of "Giornalotto") had 30 minutes to describe what we were able to achieve/ the greatest obstacles we were able to overcome during this period and we decided to share with the others the flame that started right after we published first number of the year that had this front page right here:

Translating from italian: one hundred years, just one ballot. From student council. As near as possible to student's needs. Is Volta new Russia? I think that we need to clarify something here as soon as possible:

1) Front page has the obvious intent of making irony of a situation that emerged in our High School

2) We are not comunists (I'm saying that without any discriminatory intent, everybody has the possibility and the right to believe in whatever he wants unless this is harmful to other's freedom)

3) We were trying to send a message to students telling them that this situation was not right at all

I hope that you all understand what I'm trying to say because the last page was an Hammer and sickle, unfortunately I wasn't able to get that one too but you got the idea...

We always arrange names with a shape that reminds of what we have been talking throughout some articles. We decided to take this situation to IJF because first and last page were submerged by messages on facebook from people that didn't get our intent and got shocked by hammer and sickle and some stars that were put around "ad minchiam".

I won't tell any names but I'll just translate some messages that are really funny (in the meaning of both strange and enjoyable to read) XD

-Did you notice last page of the Giornalotto?
                               I wish I didn't

-Thank god that I got away from that school
Why is this one even talking?

-For real there are connections between our school and russian situation?
This dude up here is the best because he wrote something like 4 or 5 comments that didn't mean a damn thing and he was asking obvious questions, I really don't know who this guy is but I would like to hug him to death

-I understood perfectly what you ment with the front page, and I have to admit that I also liked some of the articles that you wrote, but it is absurde that there is a fucking hammer and sickle on school newspaper, if student council has good ideas, as all schools apart our are exiting (This is literally translated from italian and be aware that the sentence you read just a few moments ago doesn't mean a damn thing also in italian) I'm glad to hear that, but if we are wasting our energies by drawing red stars and hammers and sickles on school newspaper I have the right and the duty to say that you all are loosing my consent.
What the fuck is wrong with this guy? He saied at first that he understood the meaning of the front page but at the same time he didn't understand a damn thing...

So this is the flame that got bigger and bigger, up here are some of the best comments uploaded.

At Perugia obviously everybody laughed about this poor dude who had nothing to do but bust our balls.

In the end we had the possibility to get in touch with different people from different regions and countries, I met some girls from Azerbaigian and some from England, they spoke all a perfect english and were very pleasing to see and to speak with.

I was able as I told before to see just a few conferences:

-One that was about online security and reliance of documents for online journalism (spoke also Slavatore Aranzulla, widely known in Italy and probably worldwide)

-One that was about Libyan situation in which spoke a journalist that worked for Guardian and was sent to Greece to write about refugee camps in the area (in the separate article I'll tell the name, right now I don't remember) and a woman that went as a reporter with a photographer to libya (if you follow me on instagram there may be some of the photos that the photographer took, are really impressive)

-I've the notes of the conference hel by Marco Travaglio, one of the greatest political journalists in our country.

Last but not least comes one of the most important questions in regard to traveling how much did I spent? Not that much I staied in an Hostel which cost was insignificant and the rooms were insignificant too hahah But I was with the others so I enjoied this experience with them, we found various insects inside the shower and the bathroom in general but, my friend who is allergic to dust was alive at the end of the festival, that means that the clining of the room had been done by someone somewhen. I spent a lot for food and that's all hahaha I had to live paying every meal apart from breakfast.

Obviously my being Italian in Italy imposed me to eat the best of italian cooking also in Umbria, I don't want to bore you with what I ate, I bored you wnough already so I'll leave you with a beautiful pick of one of the best dishes I enjoied

Don't know what that thing on the side of the dish is, looks like blood

Hope you guys found this "reportage" interesting, will follow a series of articles in detailed regard to the conferences that I listened.

Peace, See Nya
