Here we go with a super-fast review! Because I have a ton of things to study and I want to shoot myself.
Yesterday I saw Moonlight and I have to say that it was... Strange, I mean, I didn't really get it as a whole, maybe I'm just stupid but you'll understand why if you come along.
First of all, in the first part of the movie setting is not clear, probably ghetto of Miami and Atlanta but not sure about it. The only important character in the whole movie is obviously the protagonist who changes in the middle of monotone silhouettes, it's cool to see his evolution: starting from a thin boy, to an unlucky/dorky guy, to the king of traffic.
When i first read the description on Sky I thought that the movie was about a sort of protest against people who hate homosexuals, but it is not quite true because, Yes, the protgonist is gay but the movie doesn't turn around the fact that he is gay. It just tells the story of a random guy who has to survive and try not to be smashed by others because he is different; being gay is not his only problem, he doesn't have a father because his mother is a prostitute and drug addict.
I rellay liked the sort of father figure he has in the first part of the movie, don't remember his name, but he was so cool... The pusher, who sells drugs to his mother, is the only and most important figure for the boy. I asked why the pusher acted like that, maybe because he felt sorry or maybe because he wanted to fix the errors he did, but it seems to me as a weak excuse, infact he still deals drugs but at the same time helps the boy.
I think is a captivating character, also if he dies after half an hour... Poor guy
What I really didn't like?
The ending. The director left it "open" in order for the viewer to choose his own, but I really can't help it, I feel like they ended like this because they had no more ideas and just left it there wandering 'till the unknown. I really liked it at first but when it "ended" I felt my enthusiasm fade away. Why you had to make this choice WHY!!!
(desperation and final death)
Hope you guys enjoyed this review, it's poorely written because I got headache, I hope you can understand TWT (moreover I'm not english mothert
