Yes, my friends, today I give you grievous news, Jack Sparrow, alias Jhonny Depp, has been replaced with Dominika, alias Jennifer Lawrence.
Ok apart from this shitty opening...
Yesterday I wnet to the cinema to see the brand new movie, Red Sparrow, with Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Irons and Joel Edgerton.
The trailer here for those of you who hasn't seen it already.
Be aware that in this article will be spoilers, if you don't give a damn go on, if you want to see it just follow this link to get to another movie review.
So, as always let's start with a quick summary of the plot: Dominika Egorova, Jennifer Lawrence, is a ballerina of the Bol'šoj theater, she is one of the best, but at the end of an exibition her retarded mate stomps on ther leg after jumping breaking it (son of a bitch). After some time she gets back the use of the shattered leg but she can't go back to the Bol'šoj because they have already found a replacement. Her uncle, a men of russian government, offers to help her by sending her to the sparrows, a section of russian secret services that is composed mostly of women and they use their bodies to get whatever they want (I'm sure you are thinking that they're prostitutes, in a certain sense yes, although, the movie says that they are trained to understand what their mate wants before they give up their body, so it is not always necessary, as is proved by Dominika along the movie). She is sent for a few less important missions, like understanding what some ministers want etc... Then she is sent on a true mission to find Marble (in italian is Marmo, don't know if his name is correct) an American mole. She gets to know the American contact of Marble, the one that was at first discovered in Moscow that fled to Washington as soon as he was seen with the mole. From here start a series of double/triple crosses that are not easy to explain.
All right, I said briefly... Well no problem!
So I say from the start that I really liked the movie, and not only because you can see Jennnifer Lawrence naked (I know you were thinking about that).
The plot struk me because at first I thought it was very monotone and it would have been nothing that good to talk about, but, as every good thriller/spy-movie, everything is told at the end of the storyline. At the end of the movie you discover that she was already double crossing from the beginning, probably because she wanted to have her revenge against her uncle, who dies shot by a sniper in the last minute or so of the movie, that blackmailed her.
There are no scenes that are particular nonsense, I mean, there are a lot but in the end, with a quick flashback, everything is explained, so no questions remain un-answered. The vision the movie gives us is very raw, women that use their bodies (in most of the cases) to obtain info, i wouldn't be surprised if women started to say that this film sucks because bodie is pictured just like an instrument to get something in exchange for sex.
My personal feeling about it is that the dierctor didn't want to show spectator the hard life of a young girl who is obliged to work as a spy for her country, he didn't want for the viewer to say "buh (this should be a crying onomatopeia) poor girl Russia sucks, buh love for USA Allons!" He just wanted to tell a story and show the contrast between American mentality and Russian mentality, the setting and carachters could be completely different, it would not matter because the intent would remain the same and would be achieved in the end.
This is what I think.
So, hope you guys enjoyed (and it was written correctly because I wrote as soon as I got up from the bed so... My brain connections still don't work :D) subscribe for more content like this one, and others, really soon is coming the review of Tsurezure Children, so stay tuned for that too.
Peace, See Nya
